This lovely rustic vase is based on tree stump faux bois pieces made in europe that where popular from the 18th to early 20th century. It brings the organic beauty of nature into the home in such a charming way, with thst little bit of classic flair. It is perfect for arrangements of fresh cut greenery, fresh, or dried flowers.. or even kitchen utensils! It is sure to delight you family and friend, and inspire the nature lover in us all.
I have made this piece using my typical hand dug local stoneware clay, carefully turning it on my wheel. It has been lovingly shaped, modified, sculpted, and carved to capture the essence of and old weathered stump. I have dipped it in a thin coat of wood ash glaze, and fired it to over 2350F in a wood burning "groundhog" kiln, as is traditional to this region
