A saddle flask or saddle jug is a traditional form, generally a small jug or bottle with the sides flattened for easier storage in a pocket or saddle bag. As always, this one is made using wild local clay, handmade wood ash glaze, and is fired in my wood burning kiln. This little saddle flask is adorned with hundreds of little moonstone chips inlaid into the clay while soft, which have expanded through the glaze in the kiln to form almost opalescent pearls. Perfectly food safe and functional, and perfect for a little shared drink around a fire.
