Like all of my ware, this began as a lump of local clay which i dig and process by hand. After i carefull wheel turn the form, i add and pull a just right handle before freehand sketching the pattern with an iron needle and pressing the design in with a wooden stick one poke at a time Though the skulls are based on very old tombstone art, i make sure to add my own flair and make sure that each one is absolutely unique. The back is inscribed with the ominous invitation "pick your poison".
 After drying and bisque fire, i dip the flask in a handmade traditional inspired wood ash glaze, and fire to over 2350F in my wood fueled kiln. The intense heat of the kiln means this piece is very sturdy, completely food safe, and even dishwasher safe if you wish.
