This is a very traditional crock form, made in a very traditional way, coated in a very traditional glaze, fired in a very traditional kiln.. so what would fit it better than an inscription of classic american poetry?
This crock has been hand turned using wild stoneware clay, dipped in an old fashioned catawba valley alkaline glaze, and wood fired to over 2350f in a "groundhog" kiln, traditional to this region. I have carefully inscribed this crock with a long excerpt from "song of myself" by famed american poet Walt Whitman
Do mind, there is a small grind spot on the baxk of this crock where i have removed a sharp cinder that attached itself during the firing, this is an occasional occurrence in groundhog kiln firings, showing the process.. but the price reflects this small blemish
